Apiguard® is a natural
product specifically designed for use in beehives. It is a sophisticated
slow release gel matrix, ensuring correct dosage of the active
ingredient thymol. Thymol is a naturally occurring substance
derived from the plant thyme. It has proven high efficacy against
the varroa mite and is also active against both tracheal mite
and chalkbrood.
APISTAN® is probably the best and simplest defence against the varroa mite. Since its introduction in the late 1980's APISTAN has become the benchmark treatment.
One simple application of two strips between the brood frames can prevent re-infestation from within the colony over two generations of varroa mite.
The VITA® AFB Diagnostic Kit has been developed
for Vita (Europe) Limited by the Pocket Diagnostics section
at the Central Science Laboratory in York , UK . It is
designed to provide a rapid on-site diagnosis of American
Foulbrood infections in honeybee larvae. The kit is based
on similar technology to that of the highly successful
home pregnancy test kits and reacts specifically to antibodies
associated with the pathogen Paenibacillus larvae var. larvae causing
American Foulbrood in honeybees.

Foulbrood infections in honeybee larvae. The kit is based
on similar technology to that of the highly successful

B 401® (also known as Certan) is a safe and environmentally friendly product based on a concentrated solution of Bacillus thuringiensis, a microorganism. B401 is used after the honey harvest, when the frames are stored. A single application will provide 100% efficacy against wax moth right up to the installation of the frames again the following season. As B401 only kills young wax moth larvae, it must be used as a preventative, before the combs are infested.
